Remedial massage is a treatment to aid the repair and restoration of the body when there is a dysfunction or injury. Various techniques are used to identify the source of the problem, such as trigger points in the muscle or tendon that refer pain. Remedial massage aims to reduce pain and restore functionality.
A relaxation massage combines a variation of pressure and rhythm that melts away muscle tension and increases the blood flow to your heart. Massage is extremely therapeutic as it aids the nervous system, increases oxygen levels in the blood, and improves flexibility in the body.
Enjoy a nurturing treatment with techniques that aid the relief of muscle tension and pains associated with changes in the body.
We have all sorts of body pillows and cushions to support the team.
Mum can adjust herself into a comfortable side lying position with the Snoogle pillow or lay 'prone' (face down) with the Firm n Fold Pregnancy Cushion.
Myofascial Cupping Therapy is the application of cups to the surface of the skin. A technique of extracting air from the cup collectively pulls the skin, connective tissue (fascia) and muscle into the cup. This allows the muscle to release stagnated impurities (toxins) and allows for fresh blood and nutrients to circulate into the muscle.
Smooth baltic stones retain heat (from hot water) that is transferred from the stone to the body during massage. The stones can be placed and left to radiate heat or warmth to an area. The therapist can also use the stones in place of their hands to transfer heat with movement and rhythm. Hot stones are extremely beneficial in relaxing and relieving aching muscles.
Most health funds will 'only' rebate for Remedial Massage.
The exceptions to these are those that fall under the umbrella of ARGH* and CBHS. These funds recognise *Massage Therapy and may rebate Relaxation, Swedish and or Sports. Please check with your own Health Fund.
*as at Feb 2019, these exclude Defence Health, CUA Health, HBF, my Own Health, Mildura District and WestFund
Please enquire with the clinic ahead of your treatment to establish if unsure.
Remedial Massage is the assessment and treatment of dysfunction and/or injury, either acute or chronic, supported by a treatment plan and documented treatment notes.
Your therapist will ask questions and use appropriate assessment to help identify any underlying restrictions associated with your level of pain or discomfort. This may occur on or off the table, before or during your treatment. The more information you can provide to your Therapist, the better understanding their will have to establish the appropriate level of treatment for you.
We ask that you arrive 10 mins ahead of your appointment (as a new client) so that you can supply sufficient information on your consent form regarding your current health and any surgeries or injuries, past or present.
Some health funds will not question this (refer to the FAQ above).
Essentially, the ability to claim is based on what the underlying condition is. It must involve assessment and reassessment to determine an improvement and / or treatment plan to help remedy the pain and/ or discomfort.
Remedial treatment involves constant communication between therapist & client. The client will be asked questions as well as assessed using active and passive movement. You might be asked to recreate the movement or function that makes your pain worse or better. You might be asked to provide movement, to contract a muscle, to move into several different positions to access target muscles.
When the cause of the underlying pain is remedied, the client may feel a sense of relief and therefore, a sense of feeling less tense in the muscles and/or the muscles are able to relax.
